Typhoon Doksuri made landfall in China’s eastern province of Fujian on Friday morning, after wreaking havoc in the Philippines.
Furthermore, Doksuri first hit the Philippines, causing 13 people to lose their lives due to landslides, flooding, and toppled trees, while the total aftermath of fatalities in the country reached 39 with reports of at least 20 more missing.
Later on, the Typhoon brought heavy rains to Taiwan before landing in China.
China’s Fujian region experienced flooding and mudslides, which resulted in more than half a million people being evacuated, as well as destruction of more than 6,333 hectares of farmland and at least 18,000 houses.
The typhoon then moved to the Beijing region, where it caused more than 52,000 people to be evacuated from their homes, with the city recording a 260mm average rainfall from Saturday to early Monday.
In the Hebei region, south of Beijing, a weather station reported 1,003 mm of precipitation over a three-day period, which is more than what is normally recorded in over half a year.
Doksuri has caused a death toll of at least 11 people in China so far, with 27 others missing.
