It was announced on May 30 that a €1.38 billion contract for the construction of Grand Paris Express’ Lot 2 of the Western section of Line 15 was awarded to a joint venture between Webuild and NGE.
Furthermore, the design and build contract involves the construction of 4 underground stations, roughly 7 kilometers of tunnels and 6 functional structures between the stations of Pont de Sèvres and Saint-Denis Pleyel.
The tunnels will be constructed using the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) method, while work for the project will be carried out by Webuild in a joint venture with NGE, Equans France and TSO.
It has been made known that eco-design principles will be followed in the project’s construction, which will among other things include using low-carbon concrete, and materials with a low environmental footprint.
Line 15 will stretch about 75 kilometers in a ring alignment around Paris, France, and will be part of the broader Grand Paris Express subway project, which will be approximately 200 kilometers long, and will consist of 68 new stations.
Finally, the same joint venture has also been involved in the construction of Lot 2 for the project’s Line 16, the completion of which is expected to come in Autumn.
