Bardonecchia, an Alpine town in Italy, was hit by a mudflow after a nearby river burst its banks late on Sunday, August 13.
The event took place after heavy rain fell in the region and was captured on video as it was entering the town.
Five people were originally reported missing, while firefighters rescued another six from an overturned camper. However, after searching overnight, authorities stated that all residents were accounted for, and no one was harmed.
About 120 people had to be evacuated, while it is worth mentioning that the three thousand residents of Bardonecchia were celebrating the town’s patron, St Hipolito, with games and events on the day of the incident.
The next day, crews started cleaning up the debris from the town, while Piedmont regional governor, Alberto Cirio said on Facebook that significant damage had been caused by the event.
Finally, the country’s deputy prime minister, Antonio Tajani, said that the government would provide support.
