The construction of the Fisher Street shaft, a 15m diameter emergency access shaft in Holborn, UK was finished almost nine months ahead of schedule.
Methodical work allowed for the early completion of excavation, permanent waterproofing and concrete lining of the shaft. In total, 7.000m3 of material were excavated during the underground works. The shaft will facilitate the construction of a large crossover tunnel below Red Lion Square at Holborn and after the completion of the Crossrail project it will provide emergency access and ventilation to the tunnels.
