Delays and cancellations continue to pile up for the London rail service as a sinkhole forms under one of the tracks between London Bridge and East Croydon. The hole is approximately 6 feet wide and 50 feet deep. Nearby sections of rail have been closed until the problem is addressed.
The cause of the hole has yet to be determined, but engineers have already been dispatched to begin repairs. The train cancellations have infuriated many commuters who were already frustrated with the rail service due to a signalling fault earlier that day. In addition, there have recently been a large number of delays and cancellations due to high levels of staff illness and strikes.
