Historic Cottage Threatened by Huge Cliff Collapse in Devon

A dramatic cliff collapse in Devon, England, has left a historic cottage just 10 metres from a 120-metre drop, following a massive landslip at Jacob’s Ladder Beach. Thousands of tonnes of earth fell, taking down a section of the popular South West coastal path, which has now been rerouted for safety. East Devon District Council swiftly closed the path to protect the public.

Local resident Ian Hosker, a 71-year-old photographer, captured stunning drone images of the aftermath, revealing the scale of the damage. "It's probably the biggest we’ve had here," Hosker said, highlighting the region's soft rock composition, which is prone to frequent erosion.

This cliff fall serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing geological risks in coastal regions, emphasizing the need for ongoing monitoring and protective measures.
