Several areas of northern India experienced torrential rain, followed by a series of flash floods and landslides on Sunday, July 9.
Furthermore, reports of the record-breaking rainfall include 153 mm in 24 hours in Delhi, the most experienced since 1982, as well as 322.2 mm and 224.1 mm in Chandigarh and Ambala respectively, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Himachal Pradesh was the state worst hit by the events, and the local emergency operation center has reported fourteen major landslides and 13 flash floods in the area, as well as 700 roads closed.

Several fatalities have been recorded from the landslides and other rain-related phenomena, with reports of at least 22 people losing their lives so far, while the exact number is still rising.
Incidents included landslides hitting houses, a jeep, and a passenger bus, while the Northern Railways had to cancel 17 trains and divert another 12.
