A landslide occurred in the southern Philippines on the evening of Tuesday, February 6, causing material and life losses.
Furthermore, the incident took place outside a gold mine in Masara village, near the city of Maco, in the Davao de Oro province.
According to Reuters, two buses carrying 27 miners back home were buried, while at least six people lost their lives and another 31 were injured in the event.
A third bus had departed from the site shortly before the incident, while it has been reported that eight miners escaped the landslide by jumping out of windows or dashing away.
Al Jazeera stated that at least 600 people were evacuated from the area, while houses were also buried in the landslide.
“Rescue efforts were hampered by limited visibility and intermittent slides", according to the mining company.
It is finally worth noting that the area has recently been greatly affected by torrential rain induced floods and landslides, which have claimed several lives.
