Dams collapse in Poland amid intense flooding

Storm Boris has made landfall in central Europe, leaving a trail of destruction in its path.

Furthermore, the extreme weather phenomenon has so far caused intense flooding in parts of Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Austria, while it is currently moving towards Italy.

France 24 reported that flooding has broken a dozen dams, while the BBC stated today that 21 people have lost their lives so far, while the storm’s aftermath is not yet fully clear.

Footage from Poland shows two breached dams in the country’s southwestern area bordering the Czech Republic.

More specifically, early in the week, a dam was breached near the town of Stronie Śląskie, while the downstream Topola reservoir followed near the city of Nysa, causing tens of thousands to be evacuated from their homes.

In addition to this, the ravaging current damaged infrastructure, including the washing away of an under-construction bridge and at least one house, which were caught on video.
