This session gives a technical background on the new “Design” application in DIANA to perform the most important design checks with respect to the amount of steel reinforcements required.
Also the new application “Stiffness Adaptation Method” will be explained. This application calculates crack patterns, crack width and onset of yielding of reinforcement in an efficient and user-friendly way without running a nonlinear analysis. The stiffness adaptation analysis performs a sequence of linear analyses in which, the stiffness is locally reduced automatically at very iteration when the stress in the previous iteration was beyond the user-defined ultimate stress-strain curve.
A case-study will be presented on finite element modeling of a reinforced concrete slab using both applications Design and Stiffness Adaptation Method.
