Road Collapse in Chiang Mai Claims Life of Infrastructure Worker

On September 10, 2025, an infrastructure worker tragically lost his life after being buried beneath a collapsed roadway in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. The collapse occurred during an inspection of flood-damaged infrastructure following heavy rainfall caused by Tropical Storm Kajiki.

The worker had been examining a compromised section of road adjacent to a trench when the surrounding soil and concrete suddenly gave way, burying him under several tons of debris.

Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene and initiated rescue efforts using both heavy machinery and manual excavation tools. After approximately 20 minutes, the worker was freed and transported to Nakornping Hospital. Despite resuscitation attempts, he succumbed to severe injuries.
