2014 Shamsher Prakash annual prize for excellence in teaching of Geotechnical Engineering

The 2014 Shamsher Prakash Prize for Excellence in Teaching of Geotechnical Engineering has been awarded to Prof. Muhannad T. Suleiman.

Muhannad T. Suleiman is an assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University. Dr. Suleiman received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Jordan University of Science and Technology and Iowa State University, respectively. Dr. Suleiman's research interests include soil-structure interaction, ground improvement, thermo-active geotechnical systems, and bio-modification of soils and soil-pile systems. He has taught courses on Geotechnical Engineering, Foundation Engineering, Ground Improvement, and Soil-Structure Interaction. As a tenure track faculty, Dr. Suleiman has published more than 60 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, selected as a P.C. Rossin Assistant Professor by Lehigh's College of Engineering and Applied Science, and named the first runner-up for the Best Young Professor Paper by the Deep Foundation Institute. His research has been funded by several agencies including National Science Foundation, Qatar National Research Fund, Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance, Faculty Innovation Grant, Lindback Foundation, and Iowa Highway Research Board. In addition, he has been advising/co-advising five Ph.D. students, five M.S. students, and 15 undergraduate research assistants.
