The search continues for the miners buried in a Mississippi gravel pit. On Friday, June 3rd, the pit collapsed, burying two workers.
As of Saturday, June 10th, the bodies of both workers had been found. The workers had been operating heavy equipment at the time of collapse and were unable to escape to safety in time. The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) plans on performing a full investigation now that the bodies have been recovered and returned to their families. It is notable that this mine has been cited with 26 violations by the MSHA dating back to 1993.
