A large landslide took place in Alausí, Ecuador, late on Sunday, March 26, following months of heavy rain.
The landslide was estimated to be 150m wide and one kilometer long, according to the NPR.
It was stated by Ecuador’s Risk Management Secretariat (SNGR) that at least 7 people lost their lives in the event, while 23 were injured and another 46 went missing. 32 more people were rescued, as announced late on Monday.
The SNGR estimated that 500 people and 163 homes, as well as part of the Pan-American Highway were affected by the incident.
Finally, according to the Secretariat, there have been 1000 dangerous events since the beginning of the year, such as landslides and flooding, which have affected 6,900 homes in the country and destroyed 72.
