This year’s Geotechnica took on a different format to previous year’s, as its main focus was the conference element and it was hosted at Brunel University on their 50th Birthday.
The event was a great success and we found it very useful, talking to so many key people. We particularly enjoyed the after dinner and Keynote speaker, Professor Iain Stewart, who talked so passionately about geology and what people perceive it to be about that he had the entire audience captivated. Once again, hearing from Eddie Bromhead was also a pleasure and the general quality of speakers overall was fantastic. I think we may be seeing Duck Whistles in our future after they were successfully used to convey the audience’s opinions throughout a brief questionnaire within the conference. Our very own Roger Chandler delivered a presentation on “Transforming Geotechnical Data” which sparked an interesting debate in the audience.
