A 90-foot wide and 56-foot deep sinkhole terrorized Dunedin’s residents last Thursday, in Florida.
According to officials, the sinkhole was expanding for almost six hours after its first appearance and neighboring homes were evacuated. Work started on Friday to demolish the affected homes and fill the hole with fill. Florida’s subsoil, consisting mainly of limestone, is prone to dissolution by the acidic groundwater and this is not the first time sinkholes have lead to building collapses in the area.
