Download DocumentationFB-Deep is a program that estimates the static axial capacity of drilled shafts and driven piles. The program also features connectivity to the FDOT Geotechnical Database, where soil data can be uploaded and downloaded. Drilled shaft methodology is based upon Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports. Driven pile methodology utilizes two types of analyses: SPT and CPT. SPT methodology is based on empirical correlations between cone penetrometer tests and standard penetration tests for typical Florida soil types. Unit end bearing resistance and unit skin friction resistance versus SPT N values are given in the FDOT research bulletin RB-121. Capacity calculations using CPT data can be determined by three separate methods: Schmertmann, LCPC and the UF method. User input includes pile/shaft geometry and shape, unit weight, etc. Soil input includes soil type, depth, blowcount, unit weight, etc. Output includes a) load-settlement curves, as well as driven pile and drilled shaft capacity curves, and b) capacity tables for Ultimate skin friction, Mobilized end bearing, Davisson Capacity, Allowable Capacity and Ultimate Capacity. There are also detailed listings of skin friction per soil layer, and unit end bearing in soil layers above and in the bearing layer.
