Bob Nicoll, an employee of the Scottish Water service has revealed photos in his possession from the 1901 construction of the Aberdeen sewer system.
He rescued the photos along with other historical material that was being disposed of when the archives were cleaned out. They have been in his possession for the past 15 years.
The sewer system itself needed to have the capacity to handle millions of gallons of water and waste per day and required the removal of over 40,000 tonnes of rock. See the photos below.
