A landslide took place in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, April 2.
Furthermore, according to multiple official sources, the incident happened in the locality of Bolowa, in the Masisi territory, following days of heavy rainfall.
The landslide occurred next to a river, where local women and children were washing clothes and cleaning kitchenware.
It has been stated so far that at least 21 people lost their lives in the event, reportedly 8 women and 13 children. Civil society leader, Voltaire Batundi, said that more people are thought to be trapped.
It is worth mentioning that landslides are not uncommon during the rainy season in the country. Namely, 100 people lost their lives in the Bihambwe Village, in the Masisi territory, last September, due to a landslide.
