Continuous heavy rain since Friday has caused flooding in seven states in Malaysia. The country's meteorological department on Saturday morning issued a red alert in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang. At least 41,000 people were evacuated to relief centers. The city of Shah Alam, the capital of the state of Selangor, was hit hard by the floods. Streets turned into rivers, many cars were trapped in water. The Prime Minister of Malaysia said that the monthly rainfall fell for three days. Rescue work is currently underway. More than 66,000 police, army and firefighters were recruited to help the victims. On Sunday evening, Malaysia's Meteorological Department withdrew a heavy rain warning across the country. There are no official data on the amount of damage and victims yet.
