Xiamen Metro opened

Xiamen Metro, officially branded as AMTR, is a rapid transit system serving Xiamen, Fujian, China. Line 1 began operation on 31 December 2017. Line 2 began operation on 25 December 2019. Line 3 began operation on 25 June 2021. On 8 October 2016, the National Development and Reform Commission approved phase II of the Xiamen Urban Rail Transit Construction Plan (2016–2022). The approved phase I of system development includes three lines (1, 2, 3) with 62 stations, 75.3 kilometres (46.8 mi) in length. The construction cost is projected to be 50.37 billion yuan. The approved phase II of system development includes four lines (2 Phase II, 3 Phase II, 4, 6) with 67 stations, 152.2 kilometres (94.6 mi) in length.

Qingshui River Bridge opened

The Qingshui River Bridge is a suspension bridge in Guizhou, China. The bridge, measuring 406 m (1,332 ft) above the Qingshuihe River, is the third highest suspension bridge in world. It is also one of the longest bridges with a main span of 1,130 m (3,710 ft). The two towers of the suspension bridge are 230 m (750 ft) and 224 m (735 ft) tall. The main span uses a steel truss for deck support and stiffening.

Pakokku Bridge was completed

Pakokku Bridge is a rail and road bridge across the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar's Pakokku town. The main bridge is 3.4 km (2.1 mi) long with the motorway measuring 4 km (2.5 mi) and the railroad measuring 6.17 km (3.83 mi). The bridge is part of the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway and is the longest bridge in Myanmar.

The Taipei 101 tower opened

Taipei 101, formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a skyscraper in the capital Taipei, Taiwan. The building was officially classified as the world's tallest from its opening in 2004. However, the Burj Khalifa surpassed Taipei 101 in 2009. Upon completion, it became the world's first skyscraper to exceed a height of half a kilometer (about 0.3 miles). Taipei 101 is the tallest building in Taiwan and is currently the tenth tallest building in the world.

Guangdong Olympic Stadium broke ground

The Guangdong Olympic Centre Stadium or officially Aoti Main Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China. Currently used mostly for football matches, the stadium was opened in 2001. It has a capacity of 80,012, making it the largest stadium in the country by seating capacity.

Carlo Gimach died

Carlo Gimach was a Maltese architect, engineer and poet who was active in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Throughout his career, he worked in Malta, Portugal and Rome, and he is mostly known for designing Palazzo Carneiro (now Auberge de Bavière) in Valletta, renovating the Monastery of Arouca in Portugal, and restoring the Basilica of St. Anastasia in Rome.
