Bogibeel Bridge opened
Located in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, the Bogibeel Bridge is a combined road and rail bridge over the Brahmaputra River. The bridge is the longest rail-cum-road bridge in India, measuring 4.94 kilometres over the Brahmaputra river and taking 200 months to construct.
Jintang Bridge opened
Jintang Bridge is a highway bridge with a cable-stayed bridge portion, built in Zhejiang, China on the Zhoushan Archipelago, the largest offshore island group in China. It is the longest bridge in Zhoushan Trans-oceanic Bridges with a length of 26,540 meters, connecting Jintang Island and Zhenhai, Ningbo. The main span of the bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with opposite towers.
1932 Changma earthquake
The 1932 Changma earthquake occurred at 10:04:27 local time (02:04:07 UTC) on 25 December. With an estimated magnitude of 7.6 on the surface wave magnitude scale, and a maximum felt intensity of X (Extreme) on the Mercalli intensity scale, the quake destroyed 1,167 houses and caused 275 to 70,000 deaths and 320 injuries.
