Stade des Martyrs construction finished

The Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte (formerly known as Stade Kamanyola), or simply the Stade des Martyrs, is the national stadium of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), located in Lingwala in the Lukunga District of Kinshasa. With a seating capacity of 80,000, it is the largest stadium in the DRC and the fourth-largest stadium in Africa. It serves as the home stadium for the Congolese football national team, AS Vita Club, and DCMP, making it the largest multifunctional venue in the country.

Amsterdam Metro opened

The Amsterdam Metro is a rapid transit system serving Amsterdam, Netherlands, and extending to the surrounding municipalities of Diemen and Ouder-Amstel. Until 2019 it also served the municipality of Amstelveen but this route was closed and converted into a tram line. The metro system consists of five routes and serves 39 stations, with a total length of 42.7 kilometers (26.5 mi).

1968 Meckering earthquake

The Western Australian town of Meckering was struck by an earthquake on 14 October 1968. The earthquake occurred at 10:58:52 local time, with a moment magnitude of 6.5 and a maximum Mercalli intensity of IX (Violent). Total damage amounted to $2.2 million with 20-28 injured.

Montreal Metro opened

The Montreal Metro is a rubber-tired underground rapid transit system serving Greater Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It has expanded since its opening from 22 stations on two lines to 68 stations on four lines totalling 69.2 kilometres (43.0 mi) in length, serving the north, east and centre of the Island of Montreal with connections to Longueuil, via the Yellow Line, and Laval, via the Orange Line. he Montreal Metro is Canada's busiest rapid transit system, delivering an average of 918,300 daily unlinked passenger trips per weekday as of the second quarter of 2023. It is North America's third busiest rapid transit system, behind the New York City Subway and the Mexico City Metro.

Regent's Canal construction started

Regent's Canal is a canal across an area just north of central London, England. It provides a link from the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal, 550 yards (500 m) north-west of Paddington Basin in the west, to the Limehouse Basin and the River Thames in east London. The canal is 8.6 miles (13.8 km) long.
