2022 Luding earthquake

A Mw 6.7 (Ms 6.8) earthquake struck Luding County in Sichuan province, China on 5 September 2022 at 12:52:19 local time. The epicenter was located 226 km (140 mi) from Chengdu, or 43 km (27 mi) southeast of Kangding. Ninety-three people died, 424 were injured and 24 remained missing. More than 13,000 homes and other infrastructure were damaged or destroyed. It was the largest earthquake to strike the province since 2017.

MetLife Stadium broke ground

MetLife Stadium is an open-air multi-purpose stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and home to the New York Giants and New York Jets. At an approximate cost of $1.6 billion, it was the most expensive stadium built in the United States at the time of its completion.

World Trade Center Abu Dhabi construction started

The World Trade Center Abu Dhabi is a complex of two skyscrapers in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The tallest of the two, Burj Mohammed bin Rashid, is the tallest building in Abu Dhabi and the skyscraper with the most floors in the city as of its completion in 2014. The residential building stands 382 metres (1,253 ft) tall and consists of 92 floors.

Johannes Hint died

Johannes Rudolph Hint was an Estonian scientist and the only person to create and successfully run a limited company under the communist planned economy of the Soviet Union. With his company, Dessim Ltd, he earned millions for the Soviet Union. His most important scientific invention was the building material silikaltsiit (Laprex), which was developed through the execution of the disintegrator system. His inventions are still widely used in Germany, Austria, the United States, Japan and Russia.
