2013 Reyhanlı car bombings
Two car bombs exploded in the Turkish town of Reyhanlı, in Hatay Province, Turkey. The car bombs were left outside Reyhanlı's town hall and post office. At least 52 people were killed and 140 wounded in the attack, with hundreds of Syrians fleeing Reyhanli in the aftermath.
2011 Lorca earthquake
Occurring near the town of Lorca, Region of Murcia, Spain, the 5.1 Mw caused significant localized damage, leading to nine deaths and 403 injuries. The great damage produced by this moderate magnitude earthquake may be explained by the southwestward directivity of a shallow rupture that induced high acceleration values in Lorca village.
Lubbock tornado

Hungarian-American mathematician, aerospace engineer, and physicist Theodore von Kármán was responsible for crucial advances in aerodynamics characterizing supersonic and hypersonic airflow. Kármán's fame was in the use of mathematical tools to study fluid flow, and the interpretation of those results to guide practical designs.
