Tornado outbreak of May 4-6, 2007
The most destructive tornado in the outbreak occurred on the evening of May 4 in western Kansas, where about 95% of the city of Greensburg in Kiowa County was destroyed by an EF5 tornado, the first of such intensity since the 1999 Bridge Creek-Moore tornado.
Oroville Dam opened
Located east of the city of Oroville, California, Oroville Dam is an earthfill embankment dam on the Feather River. Built by the California Department of Water Resources, Oroville Dam is one of the key features of the California State Water Project. Besides water supply, it also serves for flood control and electricity generation, employing three conventional turbines and three pump-generators. Cornwall Railway opens from Plymouth to Truro
Famous for the majestic Royal Albert Bridge over the River Tamar, the Cornwall Railway was a 7 ft 1⁄4 in (2,140 mm) broad gauge railway from Plymouth in Devon to Falmouth in Cornwall, England. Initially the line opened for passenger trains only, with freight trains starting a few months later.
