Istanbul Airport opened all passenger services

Located in the Arnavutkoy district on the European side of the city, Istanbul Airport is the main international airport serving Istanbul, Turkey. It is the busiest airport in Europe and 13th-busiest airport in the world in terms of total passenger traffic and also the 2nd-busiest airport in the world in terms of international passenger traffic. On 6 April 2019, all scheduled commercial passenger flights were transferred from Atatürk Airport to Istanbul Airport.

Panama Metro opened

Located in Panama City, Panama, the Panama Metro links the south and the east of the metropolitan area to the city center. It consists of 31 stations on 2 operational lines with a total length of 39.8 km (24.7 mi) and uses the standard rail gauge of 1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1/2 in).

2009 L'Aquila earthquake

The main shock occurred in the region of Abruzzo, in central Italy and was rated 5.8 or 5.9 on the Richter magnitude scale and 6.3 on the moment magnitude scale. 308 people are known to have died, making this the deadliest earthquake to hit Italy since the 1980 Irpinia earthquake. The earthquake caused damage to between 3,000 and 11,000 buildings only in the medieval city of L'Aquila, leaving a total of about 66,000 people homeless.

Richmond, Indiana explosion

The double explosion occurred at 1:47 PM EST on April 6, in downtown Richmond, Indiana, killing 41 people and injuring more than 150. The primary explosion was due to natural gas leaking from one or more faulty transmission lines under a sporting goods store, followed by a second explosion that was caused by gunpowder stored inside the building.

1580 Dover Straits earthquake

The 1580 Dover Straits earthquake appears to have been one of the largest in the recorded history of England, Flanders or northern France. A study undertaken during the design of the Channel Tunnel estimated the magnitude of the 1580 quake at 5.3-5.9 ML and its focal depth at 20-30 km, in the lower crust. The results of the study were taken into account in the design of the Channel Tunnel so that it could withstand such an earthquake.
