Nansha Bridge is the name of two suspension bridges located in Guangdong, China. I is an important part of the Pearl River Delta expressway network, connecting the Shatian Town in Dongguan to Nansha District in Guangzhou, as well as the Guangzhou Ring Expressway and the Guangshen Yanjiang Expressway.

1868 Hawaii earthquake
The 1868 Hawaii earthquake was the largest recorded in the history of Hawai'i island, with an estimated magnitude of 7.9 Mfa and a maximum Mercalli intensity of X (Extreme). The earthquake occurred at 4 p.m. local time on April 2, 1868 and caused a landslide and tsunami that led to 77 deaths. The aftershock sequence for this event has continued up to the present day.
Jacob Nash Victor was born
Jacob Nash Victor was a civil engineer who worked as General Manager of the California Southern Railroad, a subsidiary of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Victor oversaw the construction in the early 1880s of the California Southern between Colton and Barstow, California, including the section that is now one of the busiest rail freight routes in the United States, Cajon Pass. The city of Victorville, California, is named in his honor.

Dennis Hart Mahan was a noted American military theorist, civil engineer and professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1824-1871. His extensive writings on military engineering, fortifications, and strategy became required reading among military professionals through World War I.
