Taoyuan Metro opened

The Taoyuan Metro (formerly Taoyuan Rail Transit and officially Taoyuan Mass Rapid Transit System) is a rapid transit system serving Taoyuan City, as well as parts of New Taipei City and Taipei City, in Taiwan. The most recently proposed network includes 11 lines and extensions, of which 2 are now under construction. The Taoyuan Airport MRT (Taipei Main Station - Huanbei) is the only line currently in operation. It serves 22 stations and has a length of 51.33 km.

Brescia Metro opened

The Brescia Metro is a rapid transit network serving Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. The network consists of a single line, having a length of 13.7 kilometres (8.5 mi) and a total of 17 stations from Prealpino to Sant´Eufemia-Buffalora, located respectively at the north and southeast of Brescia.

Porto Alegre Metro opened

The Porto Alegre Metro is a transit system operated jointly by the federal government, the state government of Rio Grande do Sul and the city of Porto Alegre through the company Trensurb (Company of Urban Trains of Porto Alegre SA) in Brasil. It has 22 stations, totaling 43.8 kilometers (27.2 mi) of route, and carries about 175,000 users a day.

Baggeridge Colliery closed

Baggeridge Colliery was a colliery located in Sedgley, West Midlands England. The pit, which closed on 2 March 1968 was the last remaining pit in the Black Country, marking the end of an era stretching some 300 years. Despite this, WMPTE continued to provide short additional workings on service 564 (Wolverhampton to Sedgley) for a number of years after the pit closure.

Carlo Gimach was born

Carlo Gimach was a Maltese architect, engineer and poet who was active in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Throughout his career, he worked in Malta, Portugal and Rome, and he is mostly known for designing Palazzo Carneiro (now Auberge de Bavière) in Valletta, renovating the Monastery of Arouca in Portugal, and restoring the Basilica of St. Anastasia in Rome.
