Munger Ganga Bridge road opened
Shri Krishna Setu (Munger Ganga Bridge) is a rail-cum-road bridge across the Ganges, at Munger in the Indian state of Bihar and named after first Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Krishna Singh. The bridge connects the Munger-Jamalpur twin cities in Munger District to various districts of North Bihar. Srikrishna Setu Munger Ganga Bridge is the third rail-cum-road bridge over Ganga in Bihar. The 3.750-kilometre-long (2.330 mi) bridge costing Rs. 9,300 million is located 60 kilometres (37 mi) downstream of the Rajendra Setu near Mokama and 63 kilometres (39 mi) upstream of the Vikramshila Setu at Bhagalpur.
Vembanad Rail Bridge opened
Located in Kochi, Kerala, India, the bridge is constructed over pile foundations at 133 locations and comprises 231 girders, each weighing 220 tonnes. The bridge has 132 spans consisting of 33 spans of 20 m and 99 spans of 40 m which are made of PSC girders and cater to electric traction.
Maurice Perrault died
Maurice Perrault was a Canadian architect, civil engineer, and politician. Working for his fathers company, Perrault et Mesnard, he was involved in the design of Sainte-Cecile, Sainte-Anne, Saint-Antoine and Saint-Charles among other projects. In 1888, Perrault, who was of Liberal allegiance, was appointed chief architect for the district of Montreal by Premier Honore Mercier. Perrault was also a member of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and designed Laval University.

Leo Szilard was a Hungarian-German-American physicist and inventor. He conceived the nuclear chain reaction in 1933, patented the idea of a nuclear fission reactor in 1934.
Rene Descartes died
French philosopher, scientist, and mathematician Rene Descartes is considered a seminal figure in the emergence of modern philosophy and science. Mathematics was central to his method of inquiry, and he connected the previously separate fields of geometry and algebra into analytic geometry.
