Nhat Tân Bridge opened
The Nhat Tân Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Red River in Hanoi. It forms part of a new six-lane highway linking Hanoi and Noi Bai International Airport. Nhat Tan Bridge has a total length of 8.3 kilometres (5.2 mi), including a 3.7 kilometres (2.3 mi) bridge, with 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) cable-stayed bridge with five spans crossing the Red River. The bridge is 33.2 metres (109 ft) wide, divided into four lanes for motorized vehicles, two lanes for buses, two lanes for mixed vehicles and pedestrian paths. Each span has 11 pairs of cables. Nhat Tan Bridge was designed and built to become a new icon of the capital, its five towers symbolizing the five ancient gates of Hanoi.
Burj Khalifa opened
The Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the world's tallest building. With a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft, or just over half a mile) and a roof height (excluding antenna, but including a 242.6 m spire) of 828 m (2,717 ft), the Burj Khalifa has been the tallest structure and building in the world since its topping out in 2009, supplanting Taipei 101, the previous holder of that status.
The Pinnacle (Guangzhou) construction started
The Pinnacle is a 60-story, 360 m (1,180 ft)-tall skyscraper in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It's the fourth-tallest building in Guangzhou.
PATCO Speedline opened
The PATCO Speedline, signed in Philadelphia as the Lindenwold Line and also known colloquially as the PATCO High Speed Line, is a rapid transit route, which runs between Philadelphia, and Camden County, New Jersey. The line runs underground in Philadelphia, crosses the Delaware River on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, runs underground in Camden, then runs above ground to the east end of the line in Lindenwold, New Jersey. The line opened between Lindenwold and Camden on January 4, 1969, with the full line to Philadelphia opening a few weeks later on February 15, 1969. In 2022, the line saw 4,870,200 rides, or about 18,000 per weekday in the second quarter of 2023.
Archie Alexander died
Archibald Alphonso Alexander was an American architect and engineer. He was an early African-American graduate of the University of Iowa and the first to graduate from the University of Iowa's College of Engineering. He was also a governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

English mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian and author Sir Isaac Newton was was a key figure in the philosophical revolution known as the Enlightenment. His main contributions were the establishment of classical mechanics, the development (with the German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz) of the infinitesimal calculus and the advancement of optics.
