The ISRM European Rock Mechanics Symposion Eurock 2018 will be held on 22-27 of May, 2018 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The subject of the conference is denoted as ''Geomechanics and Geodynamics of Rock Masses'' with the aim to cover all the state of the art solutions and advanced engineering in geomechanics. The symposium will be hosted in the St. Petersburg Mining University established on 21 October of 1773, a date that has become the birthday of the whole higher technical education in Russia.
Prominent researchers (Nick Barton, Herbert H. Einstein, Arkady Shabarov and others) will give lectures every day of the conference. Courses in the subjects of Applied geology for rock engineering projects, 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional slope stability analysis and Rock mechanics will also be held.
Technical tours have been arranged by the coordinators in St. Petersburg flood prevention facilities and in certain subway stations under construction. Moreover, a post-conference excursion has been organized at one of the imperial mansions of Russia, Peterhof.
The chairman of the EUROCK 2018, Vladimir Litvinenko, states ''I am sure that the EUROCK 2018 Symposium will make a great contribution to the promotion of scientific and technical cooperation and development of geomechanics as a science in the mining industry. I would like to wish all the participants of the Congress to have productive work, interesting professional interaction, and to get insight into the educational and scientific capacity of the Mining University and its architectural and historical complex, including the Mining Museum!''
