Krishna's Butter Ball, a granite glacial erratic stone, about five meters in diameter, is balancing on a slope at an angle of 45 degrees.
This huge stone is located in Mahabalipuram, a town about 60 km south of Chennai, capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The boulder is a unique attraction for tourists due to its awkward position that appears to defy gravity without any indication of slipping. Mahabalipuram is also famous for its magnificent rock carvings, temples, cave sanctuaries and giant open-air reliefs.
