Professor Richard D. Woods who was for most of his life a Professor at the University of Michigan, was a pioneer geotechnical engineer whose contributions to soil dynamics and geophysics left a lasting impact on the field. His legacy continues to inspire, and in that spirit, we are pleased to launch the Richard D. Woods Legacy Website to celebrate his professional career and contributions. This is the third legacy website launched by Geoengineer.org. The previous two included the Legacy website of Prof. Ralph Peck and Prof. James Mitchell.
The website has information about Prof. Woods research, teaching and consulting activities. It also includes a Testimonials page featuring reflections from colleagues, students, and friends. I has also a collection of photos, and videos and a page devoted to his Memorial Service Event that preserves moments from his remembrance through text, images, and videos.
In addition, the website has a series of videos related to Prof. Woods' legacy. Most importantly, it includes a 4-part, 5+ hrs long conversation with Prof. Dimitrios Zekkos about his professional life, experiences and his students. The videos are also tagged in sections so that one can see the content of each video and they are also made available in Youtube.
The Home Page now features random testimonials, a “Photo of the Day” from the Gallery, and a rotating selection of videos from the Video Gallery.
We invite you to explore these updates and join us in celebrating Dr. Woods’ extraordinary legacy. If you do have additional content, testimonials, photos or other material about Prof. Woods that you would like us to preserve, please contact us and we will make sure we make it available.
