The implementation of unsaturated soil mechanics principles into practice becomes gradually a requirement, especially in the context of traditional and alternative energy applications, and is critical for cost-effective and safe construction practices.
An engineering and educational technology team at the Arizona State University performed a major step to improve the understanding of unsaturated soil behavior and increase the application of unsaturated soil mechanics principles into practice, through the online dissemination of associated material. In the website provided by Professor S. Houston, lecture and laboratory modules as well as recent publications can be used by other professors for undergraduate instruction. A pre- and post- class survey is also performed to help the research group improve the provided material. The research project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
