In this web session, sources of nonlinearity will be identified and explained in detail. Furthermore, different strategies to tackle a nonlinear analysis problem based on available techniques in DIANA will be discussed.
When nonlinear aspects of different phenomena dominate the overall behavior of a FE model, the role of advanced and sophisticated numerical analysis techniques become more and more important. Many of the nice features and principles of linear elastic analysis may no longer be valid. Therefore more attention should be paid to interpret the results from a nonlinear analysis.
In this web session, sources of nonlinearity will be identified and explained in detail. Furthermore, different strategies to tackle a nonlinear analysis problem based on available techniques in DIANA will be discussed.
A case-study will be presented on finite element modeling of a highly geometrical nonlinear structure to highlight different phenomena such as: limit loads, snap through and snap back.
