Massive rockfall in U.K. documented on camera

A huge rockfall in Cornwall, U.K., was caught on camera by a woman.

The cliff collapsed and fell into the beach on November 10, 2018. Deborah Smith, that was passing by the site at the time, witnessed and documented the incident when she noticed small fragments of rock falling from the cliff. 

 "I've never walked that particular area before and I was just wandering along taking pictures of the sunset, like you do. I saw some little chunks of the cliff fall off and roll down so I started to video it. Then the massive bit just collapsed, it was so scary – I legged it away," Mrs. Smith said.

No victims were reported due to the rockfall. A warning to alert people walking in the area was issued by Falmouth Coastguard.

Scientists state that the area of Cornwall is vulnerable to such rockfalls. In addition, around 100,000 residences in the U.K. will have to address the issue of coastal erosion in the next 70 years, according to a Committee on Climate Change.
