Hayward Baker Inc., North America's leader in geotechnical construction, announces that Richard K. Walsh, P.E., G.E. has joined the company as business development manager at the company's regional office located in Metro San Diego, California.
Walsh is responsible for forging and maintaining business relationships with owners, developers, engineers, prime contractors, suppliers and others involved in projects that require sophisticated ground modification, foundation and geotechnical services. His primary territory includes the states of California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Colorado.
Walsh's involvement in the contracting industry began in the western United States in the early 2000s. His career started as a geotechnical consulting engineer after earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California StateUniversity, San Diego in San Diego, California. Walsh possesses licensure as a registered civil and geotechnical engineer in the state of California and as a; civil engineer in Nevada.
Walsh has expertise in various drilled foundation support technologies such as drilled shafts, underpinning and micropiles. His expertise also includes extensive experience in the evaluation and stabilization of slopes and landslides, earth retention technologies for temporary and permanent excavation supports, anchored pile walls, soil nail wall systems, permanent ground anchors, and secant pile walls and structures.
Walsh also has experience working with various grouting technologies and vibro improvement applications such as Vibro Piers™ (aggregate piers), vibro compaction, and vibro replacement.
Prior to joining Hayward Baker, Walsh held business development and regional manager positions at DBM Contractors, Inc. He also worked as an estimator at Anderson Drilling, Inc., and before that as a senior geotechnical engineer at TerraPacific Consultants, Inc. in southern California.
Walsh is an active member of industry associations and organizations. He serves as the West Coast Chapter President of ADSC: The International Association of Foundation Drilling, and previously served as board member and Vice President; of the West Coast Chapter. He also serves as chair of the ADSC West Coast Chapter/Caltrans Geo-Support Committee and is a member of the Deep Foundations Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and CalGeo – The California Geotechnical Engineering Association.
Walsh has presented at numerous industry conferences and has served on technical committees for drilled shafts, anchored earth retention, micropiles, ground improvement applications and others.
