CH2M by Bentley is going to help improve Singapore’s water security by increasing the supply of safe, treated water.
One of the world’s largest and most advanced reclamation facilities, Changi Water Reclamation Plant (CWRP) is located at the eastern end of Singapore and is capable of treating 920 million liters per day (MLD) of used water. To help meet future demand for used water treatment, the Public Utilities Board Singapore initiated a SGD 400 million expansion project that will increase the plant’s capacity by 200 MLD and provide a new wet weather facility to handle peak flow management. CH2M was retained to provide multi-discipline engineering services from detailed facility design through construction supervision and commissioning. To deliver the advanced expansion plan within a small footprint, on time and within budget, CH2M needed to implement a collaborative BIM strategy.
CH2M used AECOsim Building Designer as a multi-platform design application for analysis, providing information-rich deliverables, along with other Bentley applications for modeling and project coordination. Working in a collaborative environment accelerated information mobility among the multi-discipline team allowing for seamless integration of project data and models regardless of file format. Using Bentley Navigator facilitated a more effective design review process while merging the model with the project schedule in ConstructSim provided the team clear visualization of sequencing to meet construction deadlines.
Bentley’s BIM advancements provided a connected data environment, streamlining workflows among the project team to save time and reduce project costs. The seamless integration of AECOsim Building Designer and STAAD.Pro reduced time spent on structural analysis, increased the team’s efficiency, and eliminated design errors. The ability to use the BIM model for material takeoffs greatly reduced the time required for estimation of construction costs. Embracing a collaborative BIM strategy optimized information mobility and accelerated design sharing, increasing productivity, ensuring data integrity, and enhancing overall project performance and delivery.
ProjectWise provided the shared platform and a controlled environment to enhance collaboration, maintain design quality, and increase accountability, minimizing risk and avoiding project delays.
