A row of mansions situated in Hollywood Hills was red tagged, as a result of a landslide that took place on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
Furthermore, reports by news outlets vary on the number of multi-million properties that got red tagged, with some stating they were four and some others reporting they were three.
It has so far been made known that the affected properties are located on the 9200 block of Flicker Way, while aerial footage shows four properties in the vicinity of the rotational landslide.
According to The Landslide Blog, the stratigraphy of the landslide affected area consists of weathered siltstone and sandstone.
Soil in the Hollywood Hills was already saturated from the heavy amounts of precipitation that California had received prior to the event, while more rain on the day of the landslide is assumed to have worsened the slope’s stability.
It is also worth noting that roughly ten days prior to this incident, three more luxurious properties were affected by a landslide in California’s Sherman Oaks, and another three mansions were left teetering on the edge of the cliffside at Dana Point, Orange County, in February.
