XV Danube - European Conference on Geotechnical Engineering

The Austrian Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ASSMGE) has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the XV Danube-European Conference on Geotechnical Engineering to be held in Vienna, Austria, on September 9 - 11, 2014. The Conference is held under the auspices of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and other Associations.

The conference will take place at the Vienna University of Technology, where K. Terzaghi contributed most to the development of modern soil mechanics. The University is located in the centre of the city and Vienna´s most impressive sights are within walking distance of the Vienna University of Technology.

During the conference, a technical exhibition will provide an opportunity for engineers and other scientists working in the field of geotechnics, road and railway engineering to meet and present an updated overview of the existing knowledge worldwide.

Technical visits will take place on 12 Sep. 2014. They lead to actual construction sites of the largest tunnel projects in and around Vienna.The Destinations are the Koralm Base Tunnel, Semmering Base Tunnel (both part of the Trans European Rail Network Gdańsk - Venice) and the extension of the Viennese Underground Line U1.
