Pipelines 2014 Conference

The Pipelines 2014 Conference is taking place next month in Portland, Oregon and the Organizing Committee invites engineers to register by July 15th and save up to $100.

The theme of ASCE's Pipelines 2014 Conference is From Underground to the Forefront of Innovation and Sustainability. The conference creates a forum for Utility and Pipeline Owners, Design and Consulting Engineers, and Pipeline Experts from around the globe to gain valuable knowledge related to planning, designing, constructing, assessing, operating, and maintaining lifeline assets. This conference has a great history of success, with 600 to 800 attendees annually. Conference attendees will have a chance to participate in the pre-conference workshops and technical sessions, and visit over 80 exhibits from Industry leaders.

Pre-conference activities, consisting of pre-conference workshops, forums, and technical committee meetings, will begin Saturday, August 2 and continue on Sunday, August 3. Nine (9) half-day preconference workshops are planned. The topics of the workshops have been chosen to reflect and cater the diverse interests of the attendees, and include:

• Pre-Stressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP)
• Surge Control
• Horizontal Directional Drilling
• Welding of Steel Pipes
• Microtunneling
• Utility "As-building"
• Water Pipe Renewals
• Thrust Restraint Design and
• Sustainable Design

A student competition, coordinated with the Construction Institute (CI) of ASCE, will start on Sunday afternoon!
