The event is the fourth of a series of European conferences and follows the successful series organised in Durham, UK, in 2008, Naples, Italy, in 2012, and Paris, France, in 2016. The conference series is supported by the Technical Committee 106 of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering on Unsaturated Soils. It will be organized by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon, in collaboration with Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), The Netherlands, and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona.
The conference will be hosted at IST in Lisbon, Portugal, from 24 to 26 June 2020. Thematic sessions will be on (i) Climate Stresses, (ii) Environmental Geotechnics, (iii) Energy Geotechnics, (iv) From Micro to Macro and (v) on any topic related to unsaturated soils and rock mechanics and geoengineering. Applications to Geotechnical Engineering (Linear Infrastructures, Landslides, Field Measurements, ...) and new topics will be also addressed, such as (i) Nano-Micro Technology, (ii) Bio-Inspired Technology and (iii) Powder-Grain Technology.
Conference proceedings will be submitted for Scopus indexation and available for public access in the Web. Keynotes and selected papers by a reviewing committee published in a special issue of one or more ISI Journals. Technical exhibitions are to be promoted during the conference.
