16th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING (16ICGE), 7-8 December 2022, LAHORE, PAKISTAN

Preamble

The Pakistan Geotechnical Engineering Society (PGES) under the aegis of International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) takes pleasure in hosting 16th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering from December 07-08, 2022 in Lahore Pakistan.

16ICGE

The broad theme of “Geotechnical Engineering” has been kept for 16ICGE to attract a diversity of quality papers from around the globe. The Conference will act as a platform for exchange of technical ideas between Clients, Consultants, Contractors and Manufacturers. Outstanding keynote lectures, presentations and technical discussions will afford opportunity to explore the advancements in geotechnical engineering.

About Lahore

‘One who has not seen Lahore was not really born,’ goes an old Punjabi maxim. Lahore is one of the very few cities in the world, which takes pride in its own ubiquitous lifestyle. Its traditions, dialect, festivities, cuisine, body language, and air are typically Lahori, unlike any other city. Lahore, being the provincial capital of Punjab (Pakistan), is a center of brisk economic and political activities. It has always been the city of poets, saints, philosophers, and artists; the prime citadel of education and learning in Pakistan. It is a business and industrial center too. It has everything that a city needs to be called ‘great.’ The culture of Lahore is a manifestation of the lifestyle, festivals, literature, music, language, politics, cuisine and socio-economic conditions of the people. Its original cultural property lies in the form of mosques, forts, gateways, residential buildings, palaces, tombs, alleyways and open squares. These when coupled with the traditional cultural activities and social relationships, enhance the character of the Walled City with its individual buildings and bazaars. While Lahore has a great many traditional and modern restaurants, in recent years Western fast food chains have appeared all over the city. Lahore has seen a myriad of melodies, genres, and vocals alongside a variety of musical instruments (both new and old) over the past few decades.

Objective

The 16ICGE will also provide a great opportunity to the engineers, geologists, seismologists and other professionals engaged in the field of geotechnical engineering, foundation design, construction and manufacturing, to share their expertise in the realm of Geotechnical Engineering.

Location + Climate

The Conference shall be held at Civil Engineering Department, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore. The climate of Lahore is very pleasant in the month of December. The average temperature ranges between maximum 15^oC and minimum 6^oC.

Program

The program of the Conference is under finalization. PGES plans to host a two (2) day event. As per plan, 16ICGE will be held on the first day (Dec 07, 2022) and a technical tour will be held on the final day (Dec 08, 2022) making it a memorable event for the honorable delegates. The Conference Organizing Committee expects a very warm response from all the professionals to make this event a big success.

Call for Abstrcts/ Papers

Interested professionals are requested to contribute papers related to the themes of the Conference.

For 16ICGE, Abstracts of the papers (up to maximum of    300 words) should reach the Secretary, 16ICGE Organizing Committee latest by March 31, 2022 on the given email address.

Engineering Bodies, Industries, Contractors, Consultants and Manufacturers are invited to get their advertisements booked in the Conference Proceedings at the following rates:

Half A-4 size page                          Rs 10,000/-

Full A-4 size page                           Rs 20,000/-

The advertisement in the final form along with the payment should be sent to the Secretary, OC, 16ICGE.

Exhibition

An Exhibition to display the recent developments in geotechnical engineering will be arranged in the vicinity of Conference Hall on December 07, 2022. Various Contractors, Consultants and Manufacturers are invited to display their products. The following rates have been fixed for the stalls:

3’x10’ table                       Rs 30,000/-
