Scientific program
Program in progress - More information will be posted soon about the program.
The topic of IS Landslides 2024 is proposed to be:
“Landslides across the scales: from the fundamentals to engineering applications”
This topic will be addressed through the following items:
- Multiscale constitutive modeling for soils and rocks
- Weathering effects on soils and rocks destabilization
- Permafrost and ground stability
- Survey techniques
- Modeling of soil and rock hazards
- Recent progress in numerical tools for landslide modeling
- Risk analysis and mitigation
- Modeling and design of protective structures
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques applied to slope engineering
- Make researchers, authorities and companies working together and involve inhabitants
- Case studies
- Summer school
In the context of ISL 2024, this summer school intends to provide with post-graduate (master) and doctoral (PhD and post-doc) students an overview on the fundamentals in slope engineering. This is also an excellent opportunity for the attendees to meet and exchange before the symposium, and become active members of the forthcoming landslides community.
The school will be held in the beautiful mountain village of Aussois (alt. 1500 m), located above Modane (Maurienne Valley), at the border of the National Park of Vanoise. A panel of specialists have been invited to cover most of the related topics, from hazard analysis to risk mitigation. Over a two-day format, standard in-room sessions will alternate with a half-day excursion to visit a famous landslide located near Aussois.
All the attendees will be accommodated at the Paul Langevin CNRS center, that offers an all-inclusive format. Interactive periods have been scheduled in the program, in order to facilitate the global discussion between all the participants, together with the invited lecturers.
All participants are expected to join Aussois on Thursday 04th evening by their own. The summer school will end on Saturday 06th evening with a special diner. A bus transfer will be set up on Sunday morning to get Chambéry.
The detailed program of the school can be downloaded from the website.
More information will be posted soon about the program of the summer school, together with registration instructions.
Technical events and field excursion
The Conference will be organized over 4 full days, including a half-day technical visit.
According to the number of presentations, two parallel sessions will be set up, including regular presentations and invited keynotes.
During the whole conference, a technical plateau will be installed to give the floor to the industrials, companies, territory offices, infrastructure owners and managers, in order to promote active collaborations and cross-fertilization interactions.
The location of Chambéry, in the Alps range, makes it easy to organize field excursions to visit outstanding geotechnical sites (landslides, rockfalls, slope engineering) at less than 1.5 hour by bus.
