More than a decade after the initial discovery of a secret tunnel underneath the ancient city of Teotihuacan, researchers have unearthed many ritual objects from a location that may be a royal tomb. Watch the video below to learn more and witness this marvel of ancient world.
The secret tunnel was discovered using a radar, by researchers from Mexico's National University, back in 2003 in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, Mexico, located about 50km (30 miles) northeast of Mexico City. Planning the exploration and fund raising significantly delayed the research team to reach the deliberately blocked by the city's residents, main entrance of the tunnel in 2010, which was covered with rocks at a depth of about 40ft below ground. Archaeologists used a three-foot robot equipped with mechanical arms and a video camera to explore and dig into the tunnel. It is believed that the several hundreds of feet long tunnel leads to funeral chambers of ancient rulers.
