Geoengineer.org is happy to announce the addition of Surface Wave Methods for Near-Surface Site Characterization in its Featured Books section! Find out more in the following article!
Surface wave methods allow the non-destructive measurement of the spatial distribution of shear wave velocity and material damping ratio at any site. They enable engineers to determine the best geotechnical model for a site, assess ground response and measure or predict soil-structure interaction in geotechnical earthquake engineering or static corrections in geophysical exploration.
Published by CRC Press, Surface Wave Methods for Near-Surface Site Characterization addresses the key issues associated with surface wave testing for near-surface characterization, based on examples and case studies taken from the authors' experience. Written for geotechnical engineers, engineering seismologists, geophysicists, and researchers, this new publication offers practical guidance, and presents a thorough understanding of the basic concepts.
Here is what others have said about the book:
"Simple, clear and objective... This book will be an excellent base for teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate level, and will be very useful for geophysical and geotechnical practitioners".
- Antonio Viana da Fonseca, University of Porto, Portugal.
"At last a definitive book on the acquisition of ground properties by surface waves!"
- Bruce Menzies, Founder, Global Digital Systems Ltd (GDS)
