Approximately 350, 16-inch Geopier Impact® displacement piers were installed for the Kettering Fire Station in Kettering, OH.
The Geopier elements are reinforcing clay and sand fill soils and soft/loose native soils in support of column and wall loads up to 200 kips and 5 klf, respectively, to limit settlements to the designer’s criteria of 1 inches or less. The Impact piers are also supporting the floor slab throughout the building, including the more heavily loaded garage areas.
