Cairo, a small town in West Virginia, began growing in truck traffic when the oil and gas industry started taking roots in the city. The old bridge proved to be insufficient for the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) that the city needed. GRL Engineers tested the foundations of Cairo's Bridge replacement.

Hayaward Baker, Inc. (HBI) worked on the construction of the Seaside Way Pedestrian Bridge in Long Beach, California. The bridge connects the Long Beach Convention Center and Long Beach Performing Arts Center. This project received ENR's 'Best of the Best 2018' award in the Landscape/Urban Development category.

Dynamic testing was initially developed to determine the static resistance of a driven pile during installation and has also been used as a reliable means to test drilled and bored foundations for over 40 years. Last year, Pile Dynamics, Inc. released the Pile Dynamics Analyzer – Dynamic Load Tester (PDA-DLT) system and associated software, which is specifically designed for high strain dynamic testing of drilled pile foundations.

Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center sits on a 30-acre campus. The owner undertook a $130 million, multi-phase expansion project to increase capacity, including the addition of a new five-story patient tower. Hayward Baker was able to save two weeks on the unexpectedly fast-track deep foundation schedule by mobilizing a second drill rig to install drilled shafts.

Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) has released a free, 187-page report from a workshop on quality assurance practices for acceptance of post-grouted drilled shafts.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced, last Friday, the completion of the construction of 40 drilled shafts that will support foundations for the new St. Croix River Bridge.
