The biggest tunnel boring machines (TBMs) in the southern hemisphere are on track to arrive in Melbourne on time in early 2019 to build the West Gate Tunnel and Metro Tunnel.

After a ten-month, 5,200 foot long underground journey, Dorsey the ten-foot diameter Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) made his much anticipated appearance on Fisher Island last month.

The Indian capital can be now considered, on a global scale, as one the cities where the largest tunneling project has ever been undertaken. According to the Delhi Metro officials this is not an understatement considering the 19 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) that are simultaneously working underneath the city. Phase III of the metro expansion is expected to complete by the end of the year.

TBM Evelyn has set a new project record at National Grid's London Power Tunnels project, digging 55.2 meters in a single 12-hour shift! The tunnel is part of a £250m project, aiming in providing new underground infrastructure for electricity transmission.

Alice, the Tunnel Boring Machine that has been digging underneath Auckland's western suburbs for 10 months has finally broken into daylight!
